Xiao’gan library is located in the center of Xiao’gan city, at the cross of Wenhua Road and Chengzhan Road. As one of the middle-scale city public libraries in Hubei province, it aims at providing all kinds of information services to all the 300000 urban dwellers and 5000000 coutry people nearby. It’s predecessor is Xiao’gan country library which was founded in 1978. With the development of economy, education and culture of Xiao’gan, and the support of Xiao’gan government, it was rebuilded in 1999. Now Xiao’gan library has the capacity of over 4000 square metres and a collection of 150000 books and 500 periodics.
  There are about 9000 registed readers and about a 2000 of them coming to the library every day. There are 6 departments open to the public in 365 days of a year, including booking lending room, reading room, information inquiring room, children’s reading room, electronic reading room and training center. Furthermore, as the member of National Information Resource project, Xiao’gan library owns the advanced auto-management system and network, and runs at the first line of the whole province. At present, it has become the cultural symbol of Xiao’gan.
